Tolkien Tuesday: The Best Lord of the Rings Memes This Week (September 19, 2023)

Guess what I watched over the weekend? If you guessed the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you were so close. I watched over 24 hours of behind the scenes Lord of the Rings content included in the special features of the original 2001 Extended Edition Blu-ray DVD. No, I don't have a Blu-ray player, but luckily 16-year-old me had the wherewithal to rip the DVDs just in case. If you're a huge LOTR fan and you still haven't yet gotten to watch the behind the scenes documentaries created by Costa Botes, I urge you to do so ASAP. It might be a pain to try and get a hold of the footage these days if you don't have the Extended Edition DVDs, but the trouble is worth it just to watch Viggo Mortensen's last day of filming, or the look of delight on the concept artists' faces, who were Tolkien artists long before they were brought on to work on the films. The special features footage could have been a mini series all on its own! Really good stuff.
